Government Cats, I've noticed that participation is going down, down, down for both voting and entering. However, I'm really not sure why. So, instead of guessing wildly, I'd love it if you could take the time to fill out a poll or drop a comment on this entry!

It would be very much appreciated, so that I can determine either a) what changes I should make or b) if interest is so low that governmentcontrolledcats should end earlier than expected. Right now I'm not sure which is the case, so please let me know through the poll or a comment!

I'd love to keep this community going - I just find it hard to sit down and write my fic when I'm off doing things for summer.

I'd like it if we had more time to write our prompt. (I know... it's only 500 words - it shouldn't be that hard, but sometimes I don't feel well, or life has too many plans for me and then I'm out of time).

Maybe you could announce the new prompts when the voting starts? Have it overlap so we can start thinking about the new as we vote on the old? Or would that be too confusing.

I think you're doing a great job as a mod.

That's an interesting idea about announcing prompts earlier! It looks like right now things are trending towards 'more time,' so chances are I'm going to be experimenting with ways to either 'stretch' the time to see the prompts (like your suggestion!) or expand the length of the rounds.

I definitely want to participate more, but I have been going through Stuff lately (plus the 4th of July weekend, which I was gone for) and even though it's only 500 words, it just hasn't happened. Longer periods would be nice.

Longer periods seem like that's where the poll is tilting towards. Assuming that the poll numbers hold over the weekend and early next week, I'll probably be brainstorming how best to implement longer rounds!

I don't know what to suggest. I enjoy the formats, but I know that, for example, it's tough to write action sequences. (I ended up with mine by telling myself "We *will* be writing an action sequence no matter how much we hate writing those, because I wanted to enter this round's.)

I'm hoping that the poll results will shed some light on how things can best be improved. So far it's looking like people want more time, which is easily arranged.
